A Mindset Frozen in Time

When people justify the mistakes of a ruling party with the “moral degeneration of society” card, I just lose it. It may be very enticing to blame the masses for the wrong deeds of powerful men and pat yourself on the back but that is far from the truth. Who hasn’t heard the infamous: “Random siyasatdan ki jagah tumh bhi hotay tou corruption hi kartay. ” ? Honestly, just because ‘anyone’ would do it, doesn’t mean ‘anyone’ should be Prime Minister.

The attitude of shifting responsibility and accountability has gone on for too long. Fact is that over the last decade, while Pakistani society has progressed at a terrific rate and become more educated than ever before, the state’s powers, however, have merely been shuffled in the hands of a few autocratic parties. Don’t be so easily blindsided. Our streets are not full of criminals waiting to plant one nor blind sheep going where the wind may take them. This isn’t 2013. Despots come and go and more often than not they are removed by a God-fearing, good-endorsing people who want to facilitate progress. Have faith that things can get better. Allah does not burden a single man beyond his scope so who decides a thriving country of 200 million cannot rise to its present challenges? Nothing is lost except your faith and the faith of thousands of other dreamers, which in itself is a great loss to a country that asked so little but deserved so much more from us.
